Admission Criteria for Bachelor's Programs at Al Qasimia University
Introduction
In accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. (19) of 2024 regarding admission standards for bachelor's programs in higher education institutions, Al Qasimia University has reviewed its admission requirements for undergraduate programs. The University remains committed to its current admission conditions, while making certain adjustments to align with its vision. The final admission criteria are outlined as follows:
First: University Admission Policy
- The University primarily seeks to attract and admit international students (from outside the United Arab Emirates), with the possibility of admitting students from within the UAE based on the number of seats available in each program.
- Admission opens for the Fall semester of each academic year according to the dates specified in the University's Academic Calendar.
- Applications for admission may be submitted through the University's official website, UAE diplomatic missions worldwide, or any other method announced by the University and approved by the Recruitment and International Relations Committee.
- Students are admitted based on the capacity of each college and the number of available seats.
- International students are admitted on full scholarships according to the rules and regulations in force at the University.
Second: Admission Requirements for Bachelor's Programs Offered by the University
1. General Requirements
- The total number of years of study required to obtain a high school certificate or its equivalent must not be fewer than 12 academic years, including three years of secondary education.
- The student's high school certificate must be attested and equivalated to the UAE General Secondary Certificate.
- If the applicant has not yet obtained the equivalency certificate from the Ministry of Education, the student may be granted conditional admission based on a “No Objection Letter" issued by the Ministry, under the following conditions:
- Conditional admission may last for one or, at most, two semesters.
- During the conditional admission period, the student must enroll in the remedial courses specified in the Ministry's letter. These courses do not count toward graduation requirements nor toward the GPA.
- The student will receive final admission upon obtaining the equivalency certificate, or successfully completing the required remedial course, or completing 24 credit hours (during the conditional period) within the major they were admitted to.
- If the student fails to meet any of these conditions, the University reserves the right to cancel the admission.
- The student must not have been previously dismissed from Al Qasimia University or any other university or higher institute for disciplinary or academic reasons.
- No more than two years may have passed since the student earned their high school certificate.
- The applicant must be at least 16 years old and no older than 20 at the time of application.
- Students will not be permitted to begin their studies until all required documents have been submitted.
- All admission applications are considered preliminary until verified for accuracy and compliance with requirements.
- Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance; admission depends on University policy and available capacity.
- Admission is determined according to the number of students allocated to each college. Priority is given to applicants with higher grades, followed by more recent graduates, and then the younger in age.
- Applicants must list their preferred colleges in order of priority on the application form.
- Applicants must meet the competency standards set by the Ministry of Education for required subjects.
- International students (non-native speakers of Arabic) must take an Arabic language placement test. If the required level is not met, the student will be placed in the Intensive Arabic Program for one or two semesters at most, to prepare them for study in their chosen major.
- The passing grade for the Intensive Arabic Program at the Language Center is (C) or higher for non-native speakers seeking admission into University programs.
2. Specific Admission Requirements by Program
Bachelor in Jurisprudence and its Foundations:- - Admission depends on the type of high school certificate and the required grade as indicated in the attached table.
- - Successful completion of a personal interview.
Bachelor in Foundations of Religion:
- Admission depends on the type of high school certificate and the required grade.
- Successful completion of a personal interview.
Bachelor of Arts in Arabic Language and Literature:- Admission depends on the type of high school certificate and the required grade.
- Successful completion of a personal interview.
Bachelor of Art in Civilization and Islamic History:
- Admission depends on the type of high school certificate and the required grade.
- Successful completion of a personal interview.
Bachelor of Arts in Economics:- Admission depends on the type of high school certificate and the required grade.
- Successful completion of a personal interview.
- An academic English proficiency test score of IELTS 5.0 (or equivalent) with a valid certificate.
Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication:
- Admission depends on the type of high school certificate and the required grade.
- Successful completion of a personal interview.
- An academic English proficiency test score of IELTS 4.5 (or equivalent) with a valid certificate.
Bachelor in Exegesis and Qur'an Sciences:
- Admission depends on the type of high school certificate and the required grade.
- Successful completion of a personal interview.
Bachelor of Qur'anic Readings:- Admission depends on the type of high school certificate and the required grade.
- Successful completion of a personal interview.
Third: Required Documents
- Original high school certificate.
- Original transcripts for Grades 10, 11, and 12.
- Attestation of all certificates by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the issuing country, and the UAE Embassy in that country. If no UAE Embassy is present, attestation must be obtained from the embassy of any Arab country operating there.
- Legal translation of foreign certificates into Arabic or English, attested by the above authorities.
- Proof that the Ministry of Education in the issuing country recognizes the school or institute and that its graduates are eligible to enroll in public universities in that country.
- Legal Arabic translation of the passport, attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the student's country and the UAE Embassy.
- Completed application form.
- For the College of Economics and Management: valid IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.
- For the College of Communication: valid IELTS 4.5 or equivalent.
- A copy of a valid passport (minimum validity of two years).
- Twelve recent, colored personal photographs (3×4 cm) with a white background.
- A criminal record certificate from the student's home country, confirming good conduct, legally translated into Arabic and English.
- A copy of the birth certificate or equivalent document, legally translated if not in Arabic or English.
- A medical fitness certificate issued by a governmental hospital in the student's country, confirming that the student is free from infectious diseases, attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and issued no more than three months prior.
