More than 2,000 OFWs in Saudi Arabia have received assistance from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) after being affected by cancellations and flight delays. Among them are 1,765 OFWs in Riyadh, 260 in Jeddah, and 36 in Al Khobar who received food, temporary shelter, transportation, financial assistance, and medical and psychological services. The assistance comes from the AKSYON Fund of the DMW and the Emergency Repatriation Fund (ERF) of the OWWA, as part of the Saving Lives component of the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) Assistance Program under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

199 OFWs and family dependents have returned to the country since October 19, 2026, through the coordination of the OWWA and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Riyadh.

The government also helped OFWs who temporarily lost their jobs due to the suspension of operations at Riyadh’s airports. 114 OFWs from Manila were also assisted by the DMW-OWWA due to the cancellations of their flights at NAIA Terminals.

In addition to assistance while in Saudi Arabia and on their way back to the Philippines, the DMW, in collaboration with various government agencies under the National Reintegration Network, is also ready to assist OFWs in their return to their homeland. In accordance with President Marcos’ directive, the goal of the assistance is to meet their needs and support their reintegration into the Philippines
